Concur with suggestion for Williamsburg/Jamestown/Yorktown area. Great hands-on history that is not too "high brow" in Williamsburg and it also has a good theme park (Busch Gardens and water park too). Jamestown has two really great historical parks, the National park which is on the site of the original settlement and a Va state historical park where there are recreations of both Native American and English settlements as well as replicas of the ships that brought the English to Jamestown. Yorktown, a National HIstorical site, also has hands-on history. So much to see and do in Williamsburg that is appropriate for all ages as well. DH and I actually extended our stay in the area last year! Besides, the ocean is close enough for an easy day trip too! Several good CGs in the area as well. Check out www.rvparkreviews.com for info on that.
