I am looking for one to put on the back of our class C. We are getting ready to retire and get rid of the sticks and bricks.
Looked at the Honda 150 cc scooter, they want $3,500.00. I can buy four of the taos for that price. I can turn a wrench.

I carry a Burgman 650 scooter with me and it's quitter than a golf cart...most of them anyway..and take up a lot less room..Plus it has a big trunk if you need to run to the store or just tour the country side. :)

How about an electric scooter? Should be much quieter. Depends on how many miles you want to scoot.

If you are able, bicycles are even quieter.

On the one hand, you see some Amazon reviews stating they had problems (mostly minor, but showing cheap parts or shoddy assembly) with the scooters they received... but most of them still gave it 3 or 4 stars. Then you have some 5 star reviewers who got a good one right out of the box. I also noted one person who said they used to live in Indonesia and would see thousands of these Tao Taos buzzing around the city.

Joe, I have been riding motorcycles and scooters for over 50 years. I currently own and ride a Chinese Linhai 300 (Yamaha clone). I would only recommend a Chinese made scooter to those who are mechanically inclined enough to handle any maintenance needs. Most established shops will not work on the Chinese brands due to parts availability and perceived quality issues. I have had several and I have had good service from mine as I do all of my own service. I would suggest you look at one of the major Japanese motorcycle brands for their offerings in the 150 size range. The quality, longevity, and performance are worth the extra cost. If you are interested in a used scooter check out Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Vespa/Piaggo on craigslist and e-bay. I found my current Linhai (Yamaha) on Craig's list with only 24 miles for $1400. Best luck in your such. And don't let the naysayers sway you. Scooters are fun, safe, and economical when ridden responsibly.

Stay away from the Chinese scooters, they're junk. You can easily find a low mileage scooter from one of the major brands. Many are bought new but only get a few hundred miles on them before the thrill wears off. The noise level is not an issue.

A few years ago several local farmers bought some small diesel compact PUs from China. You had to buy 5 to get them shipped free. Total price $500 ea. Those PUs only lasted about a year. The engines burned a lot of oil after a few miles and then quit.

BRAND new and shipped in a metal crate and sometimes due to transit there may be Minor and scratches on the body of the scooter. These Minor Scratches and Dents are NOT COVERED under warranty.

Good way for them to get rid of their scratch & dent ones.

What shops locations do they have listed to do warranty approved work for them?
How long miles/time is the warranty and what parts are covered?

We have a 50cc scooter that is much less annoying than a golf cart. LESS annoying you say? Yes, we use it like you would your car/truck. We drive thru on the way out of the campground, or maybe for a run to the shower house or camp store. Golf carts tend to be used for joy-riding.

Golf carts can also be banned (and have been) from many campgrounds. Hard to ban a licensed motor vehicle with proper registration, inspection & Insurance from transversing the grounds.

My scooter is less annoying then my Harley leaving my site. At putt-putt speed it is hard to tell the scooter is running---at putt-putt speed, you KNOW my HD is running.

I imagine this is going to something LOUD. Maybe not a good idea running around the camp sites... I'm thinking a golf cart might serve you better...
