We Have MOULD!!!

hi guys;

We've been stuck on the west coast for the past 3 weeks. We've been in BC, Washington, and Oregon. I think we've had 1 or 2 days in 3+ weeks without rain.

Yesterday we started to find mould everywhere. On the kids' pillows, on the window sills, and other places.

Should this be typical? Has anyone else had this happen? We're fairly new to the lifestyle, so we don't know what to expect. If this were our sticks-and-bricks house, we'd be freaking out right now.

My wife thinks we should expect this, given how wet it's been. Knowing her, she's probably right. But I'm wondering if we should be unhappy with our 2 year old trailer? (Sport Trek 320VIK by K-Z)

Any advice would be helpful here, thanks.

Also, if you've had experience with this type of mould... any suggestions on how to get rid of it? Any tricks on preventing it in the future?

    Clean the MOLD up, use your fantastic fan (sucks the air out of the RV) and get some Damp Rid (Walmart) ASAP! Also look into getting a dehumidifier ASAP

    Mold (US spelling) and mildew (black) are not healthy for human beings. I'd trash the pillows, and use a mild bleach solution to clean up.

    This is usually the result of poor ventilation.

    Stop at ace hardware or home depot store and pick up their mold control. Kills the sproes so vacuum cleanup after it drys. Yes mold is a problem without proper ventilation

    Sounds like you need to open some windows a little to get some air circulating.

    It also might be you are keeping your temperature to low.
    You should not be having that problem, we don't.

    and no, it hasn't been that rainy, it just seams that way since you aren't used to it.
    Years (and YEARS) ago my Grandfather move out here from Montana, the first winter he wrote my father (we still lived there) and said "These people are crazy, they go out and do things in the rain".
    By the next winter, he had figured out that if you stay inside until the weather is nice, you will be inside until July.

    My first winter here I figured out the same thing.

    You need a dehumidifier inside. Ventilation may help a little but if the humidity is high outside, it won't help a lot.

    Wash or trash the soft surfaces, and super-clean the rest with about a 1/10 bleach solution.
