- Code2HighExplorerLocal LE were in the hoarding location a few days ago and saw "some" of the dogs. They only went into the first floor. My guess would have to be that many have already died.
Basically I think he removed what he could of the evidence.... dead and dying dogs. God only knows where the rest are now. They need a miracle.
One dog was gotten out the other night, by court order.
The others could have been saved, but clearly someone in the city was blocking LE from taking appropriate action. - Pawz4meExplorerBut we're all assuming (hoping) he's providing at least a minimal level of care, even though that's probably not likely from the reports of the condition of the "shelter." I think it's possible the dogs were crammed into the trailer (w/o crates) and haven't seen the light of day, or any food or water, since then.
Since he seems to perfectly fit the profile of a hoarder, I doubt he's released the dogs out in the middle of nowhere. He'd want to keep them under his control, believing he's taking better care of them than anyone else could. - Francesca_KnowlExplorer

The thing I don't get: why aren't people reporting a semi trailer with a hundred barking dogs inside???? It's not like this group would be "low profile". Most people would report it - which is why I wonder if he isn't just holed up somewhere, while these dogs die from starvation/dehydration.....
I'm wondering about that, too. And there are lots of other things to wonder about. 124 dogs in a 53 foot trailer? What are the logistics of that, unless he already had a specially modified trailer so that crates could be stacked securely? It doesn't sound like he's that organized or has that kind of money. Plus I assume he'd have to be hauling dog food and some water with him. But I'm thinking he couldn't haul that much water, so he'd have to be refilling fairly frequently along the way. Which you'd think would draw some attention, not to mention the attention he'd get stopping to walk that many dogs. And the time it would take to feed/water/walk them . . . :h
The story just doesn't compute.
There's a conversation on Facebook ongoing, where some folks are raising the same questions. It does seem logistically impossible that such a conspicuous rig/cargo could just disappear like a puff of smoke...
Local scuttlebutt is also heavily weighted towards his being holed up somewhere closer to home here on the Olympic Peninsula. Rumors fly, of course, and they now include speculation that Markwell has friends on one of the local reservations, where the dogs would be out of anyone's reach. But I'm havin' a hard time believing that the Tribe would want to get involved in such a mess... - Pawz4meExplorer

Let's be accurate instead of polite... he's not a shelter owner, he is a hoarder.
And in an ironic twist - the hoarders often become the worst abusers.

Can't make out what gives with the group that's supposedly "coordinating distribution of the dogs", according to the Daily News.
Facebook page for "Guardians of Rescue" has lots of folks posting questions about the dogs, but not a word of reply so far- not even a nod that G.of R. is involved. :h - Clanton24VExplorerIt is a very odd story. Wonder if we'll ever find out what actually went on.
- Executive45Explorer IIIThe article says the trip has been delayed as "he is the only driver, and he has to take time to water and exercise the dogs"....if one were to stop at a rest area, how long would it take to water and exercise 124 dogs...:h....Dennis
- Code2HighExplorerI believe the warehouse was entered after, and pictures are up on FB.
Let's be accurate instead of polite... he's not a shelter owner, he is a hoarder. - Francesca_KnowlExplorerThe creepy thing for me is that no one's been inside that warehouse since the owner supposedly left with the dogs. Nobody witnessed him going...
Call me overly suspicious, but I've been watching this unfold for a month now, and given some of the other inexplicable actions of the "shelter" owner, I can't help but wonder if at least some of the dogs aren't still in there.
