- Johno02ExplorerI will start paying a charge for pets at the same time they start charging for loose kids that trash the bathrooms and everything else that they can. That is why Virginia state parks are off our list.
- westernrvparkowExplorerAgree 100%. I have never been to an RV park or similar establishment where there was ever any dog poo left on the ground. Every RVer cleans up after their pets and they always have their own poo bags. Those same dogs are also always friendly, never bark, always stay in their own sites, so there is really no need for a leash. All pet rules and policies are actually ridiculous on face value. They are just another way the mean and greedy park owner gets into your business and wallet.
- 3oaksExplorerWell, don't plan on staying at any state parks in PA. We must pay extra for our dog in every sp in PA that allow dogs. A lot of PA's state parks don't allow dogs at all. :(
Paying the extra fee doesn't bother us as much as campers without pets occupying some of the pet sites which are limited within the parks that do allow dogs. :M - nineoaks2004ExplorerIt is up to you to stay or not.. Fla. None in my area do charge, I usually stay at the State Campgrounds anyway and they do not charge. If you do not want to pay then stay at one that doesn't charge.
- dewey02Explorer IIWell, I'm not bothered by it.
Some places won't allow RVs that are older than a stated age (the rig, not the driver/passenger!)
Some places won't allow a RVs that are longer than a stated length.
If you won't pay for having your dogs at that RV park, then go somewhere else where they don't charge you. Perhaps you furnish your own bags and pick up after your dog, but I think nearly everyone can attest to having seen pet owners who do not do so. So it falls upon the campground management to pick it up. So if they want to charge for pets, it is their campground and they have every right to do so. And you have every right not to camp there. Problem solved. - SparkDrExplorerI can see why some parks may impose a pet charge to act as a deterrent in order to weed out less than responsible pet owners. Whether that line of thinking truly has any merit or plays out as planned in the real world is beyond my scope of knowledge. Parks make choices when setting their fees and we make choices when choosing where to stay. I do not have a problem with a pet charge but also have no reason to judge others who may disagree with it.
- CroweExplorerThen don't.
