And they say dogs don't know what we say, HA!

So last night I'm heading to the storage unit to pickup the camper and I tell the wife that I'm heading up to get the camper to prepare for our weekend trip Friday through Sunday.

Our 2 little Boston's that go with us on all of our camping trips hear the word camper (they were sacked out on the couch by the way) and knock me down beating me to the door. I go on without them and when I get back my wife said they never left the door that I walked out of and was waiting patiently for me to return. I open the door and out they go to the camper.

Keep in mind dogs has no ideal what we're talking about though...:S

Yes. And note that's just a typical dog. I suspect all the Pet Stop dogs are much above average. ;)

Tell her..truck and she would run out to it and sit by back door

Tell her...trailer and she would sit at the entry steps

Tell her...go pee you had best have your feet out of the way (go poop....well that required a stroll first)

GO for a walk....and she would get her leash

Pigs are suppose to be even smarter

The part about pigs being smarter I have heard before Old Biscuit. I was raised in a very rural area and grew up on a farm in my early years. I have had several old farmers tell me exactly that. I was also told there the smartest of the barnyard animals.
  • Our little Jessie knew a lot of words and we were alway spelling out words, too. When we were driving in our motorhome heaven for bids don't say rest stop or she would bug us until we stopped. I could be talking on the phone and she would look at me like who are talking to. I would say Charlotte is coming over and she would be out on the decking waiting for her. We couldn't say Petsmart, car, motorhome, ice cream, grandma, grandpa, Willie, Sierra, and family names, she always knew. You put a table cloth on the dining room table and she would be out on the decking waiting for all the people to show up.
  • Our toy poodle recognizes a lot of words. Before she went blind from old age, she would almost give herself whiplash if ball or beach was mentioned. We had a rescue dog with some serious psychological issues for a short time, we brought in a trainer to try to instill some behavioral changes. Lulu sat at the sidelines watching and picked up on a lot of what he was doing.

Before we lost our last pup, he knew it was Sunday morning because I'd sleep in later than normal. As soon as I got up, he'd run to the door and wait for me to get my keys so we could head out and purchase the morning paper.

They are much smarter than many folks believe.
