- OaklevelExplorerMost East Coast Campgrounds that we stay at do not have restrictions on German Shepard's but do on Pit Bulls & Rotties. Check campground websites & call ahead.......
- Deb_and_Ed_MExplorer IIKOAs tend to be dog-friendly? Check with one first, but the several we stayed at had no restrictions other than aggressive behavior would result in being asked to leave
- AZPopsExplorerThe best route (aside from a few of the private dog friendly park's web sites) is to open the phone book an start calling.
Pops - michigansandzilExplorerNever camped in Washington or Oregon, but I can say that several places have breed restrictions. We have a rottweiler and a mastiff and encounter some discrimination but I have been able to find a similar type campground close to the campground with restrictions so it's not too much of an issue. It just requires extra planning. I don't want to drive out of state and be turned away at the entrance. Typically I send an email and/or call direct to get confirmation that they will allow my breeds. State parks have been easier than private.
- Tin-benderExplorerWe have traveled and camped through California, Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana over the last 3 years with our 70lb German Shepherd and our Border Collie. Staying at Rv parks and state campgrounds, never had an issue or question either a park accepts pets or they don't. Only breed restrictions I have ever seen posted were for Pit Bulls, Rotties, and Dobies.
We always check ahead just to make sure.
Tinbender - skipncharExplorerFor the record I can remember only a very small number of campgrounds where there is ANY dog breeds banned. There are quite a few RV parks where their insurance policy requires them to ban some breeds (mostly due to irresponsible owners).
Good luck / Skip - sharibartlingExplorerThank you.
- doxiemom11Explorer III haven't seen any breed restrictions in the National Forest Campgrounds either.
- sharibartlingExplorerThanks everyone. I did make an error posting in the wrong forum. Thought I had clicked beginners. Then got lost in the editing
- Francesca_KnowlExplorerAs noted, usually only a problem in private campgrounds, not public ones.
As far as I know, neither Oregon or Washington State Parks have any breed-specific bans...and I think the same is true for Federal campgrounds, too. (Nat'l Parks, Nat'l Forest, COE, BLM, etc.)
