Cousin's 6-year-old granddaughter spent a good part of this morning in the swimming pool, which was at 73 degrees. Would have been fine, but for the 20-25mph winds. As long as she stayed in the water, she was fine, but coming up out of the water into the wind was cooooolllld! Cousin's elderly dog also insisted on swimming, then required me to help her get out, since she's arthritic in her hindquarters. Of course, she immediately shook the water all over me -- each time. Pretty nice morning, though.
I don't think she'll be swimming anymore. Cold front coming in will drop that pool temperature down into the too cold to get in there range.
I'll miss swimming, not that I've done any this week. Had a bunch of scar tissue removed from my leg last week, and the hole is still open, and will be for quite a while, as it has to heal from the inside out. No scab allowed, so Vaseline and a bandage is required at all times until it's healed. Swimming with it open, even with Vaseline covering it, just doesn't sound like a good idea. Sigh.
Spotacus was not a happy boy today. Hates the wind blowing into his ears, and there's a dog wandering around, so he spent as little time outside as he thought possible. Peed in one box, pooped in the other, then demanded treats because he actually used them. He's so weird.
Then he was asleep on an island bar stool and Cousin's granddaughter surprised him awake. He bit her. Luckily, it was a very gentle nip, just surprised her in return. She does not take direction well, and had to try it again and again, but he didn't bite again; he bopped her with his paw, no claws out (which is a pretty good smack itself). She finally understood that when his ears are down, stay far away. By then, Spotacus had gotten disgusted and crawled into his tunnel, where he feels invisible. She didn't bother him there.
They'll go visit Mom tomorrow. I'm going to Weinachtsmarkt to see if there's something I can give as Christmas gifts (and to drink some hot spiced cider).
Time to watch the Leonids meteor shower. Later, y'all.
