The 1812 Overture is merely a concert overture; no opera associated with it. And yes, I performed that one several times, once with the Amarillo Symphony, in which we fired a shotgun into a 55-gallon drum, instead of merely banging on the bass drum. Got a bit smokey in the back of the orchestra, but it was really dramatic.
