My best day so far was nearly 8k steps. The next day I could barely move. Clearly jacking up the steps that fast was a bad idea. So I'm working on around 5k per day until my various muscles or joints get used to it.
The cats are not particularly happy about me stepping so much. They don't get their regularly scheduled lap naps. These two are such sticklers for a schedule...
Since they both have almost destroyed their two favorite toys, I bought new ones, with catnip in them. They are still deciding what they think about catnip. Clearly, I do need to find them new jingle balls. At the moment, Rudy found his favorite raggedy jingle ball, which happens to be the same color as his coat, and is growling at Czarny. Keep away game is on.
The doe herd came up yesterday, all six of them. The deer feeder needs a new battery, so it's not dispensing. I pulled out a bucket and dropped a good pile of corn in the yard. While they were jockeying to get some, two of them noticed the cats staring out at them. Czarny and Rudy had never noticed the deer before, and they were fascinated and a little frightened. The does stared back and occasionally snorted at the cats, but finally wandered off. The cats then decided to lean against my legs, which was a problem, as I was moving about the kitchen, chopping veggies to make kimchi. When I finally sat down for the evening, they both piled up on me and stayed until bedtime.
This morning, Rudy woke me up, playing with his toy on the bed. They absolutely insist that no humans stay in bed past a certain time, because it's kittens play on the bed time. Humans just get in their way...
Just me and them right now. WLToo and Tall Friend went elk hunting this week. Hopefully, most of an elk cow will be in the freezer soon. Elk is seriously good eats.
Czarny wants to play kill the red dot. Later, y'all.
