Tall Friend got his elk yesterday. WLToo is still hopeful. Short Friend was incensed to learn there's no butcher near the hunt site, so they'll have to bring home huge frozen chunks, then have a local meat processor thaw, cut, and re-freeze.
I didn't understand why she was so upset -- that happens often. Doesn't affect the meat's flavor or texture. Then she ranted about how she'd had to do all the cutting herself last time, because Tall Friend just never could get around to finding a processor. WLToo didn't, either, but since I grew up on a farm, and he was interested in learning how to slice it up himself, we processed his deer, antelope, and wild pig ourselves. Wasn't as pretty as a real meat processor, but didn't affect the taste. I am insisting he take the elk to a processor this time, as we want some real nice cuts and neither of us are good enough to do that. So guess who's doing the research today to find a meat processor within a reasonable drive?
Fog's lifting, time to get stepping. Later, y'all.
