We've been helping Sister pack an astounding amount of stuff, then hauling it to a storage unit near us. Tall and Short Friend asked her to move into their place, while they take the FW up to Maine to volunteer at Acadia NP. They'll be leaving in a week or so.
It's a great plan. Sister can vacate her house, leaving it staged with some of her furniture, and live at T&SF's place. No realtor appointments necessary (she works from home), no rushing around to clean up before they arrive, no fear of pets getting out. She'll take care of their place, get/forward their mail, pay the utilities, and be right here each time her realtor finds a place she might like. Her house should sell quickly, giving her plenty of time to find a new home and get moved in before T&SF return in November.
Her cats should thoroughly enjoy sitting on the floor, looking out the glass doors toward the golf course and resident deer herd. Her indoor dog will appreciate the one story plan; his legs are too short for negotiating her current home's stairs without a lot of effort.
Meanwhile, Leoghaire comes up several times a day, but we only drop corn into her doggie dish once a day. She's still being very aggressive toward the cats, so we watch closely when they are outside. Luckily, they prefer lounging on the north porch for the most part, under the glider sofa. The other two does seem to recognize the cats are just part of the scenery. Leoghaire is too busy being pushy. I had to stomp my foot and snort at her yesterday, before she stopped moving toward Rudy, who was being entirely too brave, standing in the open and staring at her.
Rudy especially enjoys sitting directly under the hummingbird feeder and chittering at them. They just ignore him. When not chittering, he and Czarny both chase bugs. So far, they have not met any scorpions or giant red-headed centipedes. I did find a GRH centipede in the shower the other day. It was only 1.5" long, so I was able to wash it down the drain. They can live down under the trees and eat scorpions, but if they come into the house, they die.
Czarny's inviting me to play. Later, y'all.
