Buddy died 2000 hours on 10 Sep. Fencer (my oldest military friend) said it was a quiet passing. Now we're waiting for Buddy's wife to let us know about any memorial and if she wants us to come to New Hampshire for the burial. Now that Sister and Nephew are at the lake, they can take care of Rudy and Czarny while we travel up there, if we need to go more quickly than we could by taking Obi-Wander.
I am glad that Buddy left on 10 Sep and not 9/11. We already deal with enough grief from 9/11.
Strangely, though, yesterday was the first 9/11 when I was not a surly grump. Drove Mom home and her apartment was quite cold (she'd set the thermostat to 64 so it wouldn't be hot when she got back). She was happily readjusting the thermostat and making herself comfortable when I left.
Worked at the library as usual. But instead of wearing one of my book themed t-shirts, I wore my Pentagon t-shirt. A couple folks asked if I'd been there, and we had a nice little chat about how massive the building really is. They didn't realize that an entire jetliner was absorbed by only three of the five rings, and the total damage was to less than 1/5 of the building.
Rudy is being very affectionate this morning, in between stomping on me on his way to stare out the window. Czarny comes by, chats with me, then goes his own way. The cooler morning temps seem to be energizing them out of their usual morning nap times. Guess I'll pull out the red dot in a bit.
We started watering one patch of grass near the house, so Leoghaire and the other does will have something to eat. The little rain we've gotten over the past few days still isn't enough to start the meadow green up. Between that patch of green and the corn we feed them, our three-deer herd is staying close by.
Short Friend called. Fencer alerted them to Buddy's status, and we reminisced about Buddy's famous Halloween parties. She's pretty much completely recovered from the Lyme Disease. The park they've volunteered at stays open until after Columbus Day, so they'll be there through leaf peeping season. They're also just a few hours' drive from where Buddy will be buried, so they can easily be there, too.
Time to haul a few items over to the thrift store. Later, y'all.
