Magnus, he was Army, not USMC. It's been frustrating. TF was home for 10 days and did absolutely zip to get better. It's like the lizard part of his brain was in charge, and anything he could do passive-aggressively to get others to do everything for him ruled. SF got so exhausted that she finally heeded the experts' advice and told TF he would be going to long-term rehab, and she would NOT be there every single day to fetch and carry. He would either do the rehab and get better, or he could live as an invalid by himself. So he agreed to go.
He's been there since last Wednesday. He complains about having to do for himself, but he's doing it (because no one else will do it for him). SF slept for a couple days after TF went, and now she's headed to the airport to pick up her folks. We helped her organize the house for their visit, and she's feeling so much better. Last Saturday, the three of us went to a musical theater (first time in over a year), and laughed our fannies off. Felt great.
Meanwhile, winter is taking one last shot at us. Today is cold, with the wind howling. We'll have about six hours of a hard freeze tonight, and then back to normal by Saturday. We've nothing in the garden to freeze, so no worries there.
Leoghaire and two yearling does still come to the south porch each afternoon, so we feed them deer chow (no corn). Which reminds me, we need some more.
What with the COVID-19 virus in San Antonio (about an hour away), some folks are assembling a 30-day supply of stuff, just in case they feel the need to self-quarantine. WLToo thought we might want to add to our standard survival supplies, such as cat food and cat litter, so we'll head to the county seat in a bit. Brrr...
Czarny has been a real pest of late, playing kitty on the wrong side of the house. He'll run out one door, go around the house and want in another door, then go back out the first door. We're not letting him outside today at all, what with the cold, stiff wind keeping the wind chill factor down close to freezing. Rudy could care less -- he'd rather lay on me or in bed. At the moment, two lumps are under the covers, where I expect them to stay all day.
Yesterday, they were both outside, then Rudy ran into the house calling out in some distress. Czarny was right behind him. As I was trying to figure out the problem, I realized Leoghaire was standing by the door the cats had just fled through. Aha. Rudy is quite the hunter wannabe, as long as Leoghaire is on the other side of a closed door. But that door was open! Aaaahhh! So both cats decided to stay inside the rest of the afternoon.
Time to haul the recycles and pick up some deer feed and cat supplies. Later, y'all.
