Took me four tries, but I finally got the rhythm going on Sister's present. Finished one potholder, two to go. Think I'll give her the wonky ones, too, with a note that I did finally improve...
Hot weather, warm weather, cold weather, not so cold weather, 2" of rain, wind, sunshine and short sleeves -- this is a very interesting December. Looks like Christmas Day will be shorts weather again. I like that.
We harvested a good pile of sweet potatoes, and ordered a honeybaked ham. We'll roast the sweet potatoes (none of that gooey sweet marshmallow mess for us), then haul the lot to Sister's on Christmas Day, where Nephew One has taken over cooking all the rest. Definitely going to be good eats.
Tall and Short Friends will fly to his sister's in Minnesota (brrrr) Wednesday, and be back in a week. Then two college buddies will join us for New Year's at Tall and Short Friends' place.
We're definitely doing the party bit this year.
I joined the local community band as second percussionist. That means I play everything except trap drums. Since the band doesn't actually have a glockenspiel, chimes, marimba, etc., I bought a 61-key electronic keyboard that makes about 600 different sounds. Took some practice to play glock, chimes or xylophone with one hand and jingle bells/maracas/shaker with the other, but it works. Just needed to get the muscle memory going.
Last performance of the year was last Friday. Spousal Unit tried to record it, and neither his camera nor his cell phone picked up the audio. Oh, well, there will be more performances next year.
In case I get distracted again (two cats who are still trying to get at each other can do that), y'all have a very Merry Christmas.
