I haven't noticed much in the way of corporate operated vets in our area, with the exception or Banfield. And they don't seem to be doing particularly well. When I go into the Petsmart nearest me they never seem to have much vet traffic at all.
We have a young local vet (grew up in this county) who started out with a mobile operation a few years ago and just opened up a large, shiny new sticks and bricks practice. I have no idea where her funding is coming from, but it seems to me she built with an eye to the future as it's not a small facility. I can't imagine how a single vet is paying for it.
