- Dave_T_ExplorerDowntheroad,
That is about the best site out there. I signed up for the recall alerts too.
Thanks to all. - HappytravelerExplorerI buy our dogs treats from Costco and Traders Joe's and the treats are labeled made in the USA.
- Pawz4meExplorerI kind of doubt you'll find any reputable site with a list of good/safe treats. Who can say that something that seems okay today won't be recalled tomorrow? And since no one has been able to pinpoint what may be in the treats that are suspected of causing problems, there's no way to say what "safe" is. The best you're likely to find is a list of treats that are suspect.
There are so many easy things to give dogs as treats (carrots, cheese, bits of steak or chicken, etc.) and so many easy to bake dog treat recipes, I really don't see why people need to buy them. Even if you want the jerky-type treats, you can dehydrate thinly sliced chicken breasts or tenderloins in the oven. Or invest in a food dehydrator. - amandasgrammaExplorerHow about doing like the owners do for show dogs? My folks used to show dogs and would take bits of liver (or other meat if you can't stand liver) and would bake them till they were almost as hard as store bought treats. They put them in zip locks and the dogs loved them! You KNOW how those are cooked......:) :) and WHAT the meat is. and they're MADE IN THE USA.
- downtheroadExplorer...and then there are products that are Made in the U.S.A. but are made from ingredients that are outsourced from China.
We use this site and check it often from what is good and not good and for any recalls.....LINK - SpoiledRottenExplorer

Made in USA does not mean it was made with ingredients from the USA.
Thanks a bunch!
But "Made in China" means just that, and you should definitely stay away from those! - Johno02ExplorerJust don't buy any food or treats from China or any other non-US area.
- robsouthExplorer IIDave, do you have a list of the "bad" treats?
- RBakExplorerI don't buy commercially made treats anymore. I give my sheltie animal crackers - those that come in the little circus box for kids, or Cheerios. He loves them and is doing well on them.
