Fireworks are also unnerving for folks who have been in the military too.
I was once at a grocery store, coming out carrying my groceries in a bag. Behind the grocery store was the high school foot ball stadium. I was not part of that school system, but when they fired the cannon at the beginning of the opening ceremonies, I went "splat!" on the ground, groceries when flying every where, and folks were standing there wondering what just happened. I regained my composure, stood up, started collecting my groceries and everyone just stared at me like I was nuts and walked on.
