Some breeds are more prone to Addison's than the general dog population (Standard Poodle, Great Dane, West Highland White Terrier, Bearded Collie, Portuguese Water Dog, and Leonberger) which implies a genetic component for this disease. There are several research groups looking into possible genetic markers for Addison's.
We've notified most of the owners of the pups from this litter (a different litter than Tally & Eve and unrelated); we have been unable so far to contact a couple of owners. Nell's littermates have had no symptoms of Addison's.
Thanks for the well wishes. We're hopeful Nell will be able to continue for some time, we'll see.
