This was a good news/bad news weekend with Nell. The good news was her stamina was great running under stressful conditions (tough sheep, upper 80s & humid, and a big course). Several dogs were excused by the judge or retired by the owner due to getting too hot during their run; several more took advantage of the cool down tub of water on the field during their run. The bad news was her working performance was bad (not in terms of placing but in terms of how she worked the sheep and listened to me).
I also had the opportunity to talk with another handler who has an Addisonian dog running at the same level and Nell. Her dog has been feeling great since starting her treatments a few years ago; so there is good hope Nell will be able to continue working for years.
Nell was in today for her second shot and bloodwork; her electrolyte levels are normal.
