Well there is, but no one wants to hear about it. Choose a breed, that is not known for barking, unless you want a dog that will alert you. Agree all of this except the concept of a human Alpha leader. Current consensus it that there is no such thing. In the wild, for wolves etc. the Alpha pair are the only ones allowed to breed within the pack. They don't make all the decisions in the pack.

It is wonderful for aggressive dogs on the street and will come in handy in Ecuador where street dogs abound ! It is very reasonably priced and worth its weight in gold in my opinion...we now have a quiet home .

The only shortcoming I've found with the Dazed is that it doesn't seem to affect geese or swans....LOL!

I use the Dazer II...it has an ultrasonic high powered sound when activated by the user...we have a chihuahua with anxiety issues...we have tried obedience school...water bottle spray ...pebbles in a plastic bottle to redirect her attention...herbal meds...nothing worked until this...I have only had to activate it a couple of times....and never more than one push....now she will give a wee bark and then look over at me then she just lays downs or continues on looking around...

I refuse to shock my dog since she is very sensitive. I have the spray no bark collar and it works well. Now all we have to do is hold it up and she stops barking.

Hope I am not too late to respond...I HIGHLY recommend PetSafe that sprays cendrenella (I know, misspelled!) I have a little dog and it has been a miracle...it took about 1/2 hr...now I just show him the collar! www.petsafe.net I had some friends go onto Amazon and they found it 50% off!

I have a citronella squirter as well. Mine is owner operated although there are some that are bark-triggered. I use it every few months when my dog forgets it's not cool to bark at squirrels (I'm a cruel owner!).

He's not a regular barker though. But maybe you'll have more training "opportunities" with a serial barker. :)

Be sure and check what type of batteries the collar uses. Go with the easiest to obtain (or a rechargeable). A few brands use specialty batteries that can only be purchased through a pet store, and that can be a nuisance when you're nowhere near a town....

If you only have one dog - you might have good luck with a handheld ultrasonic corrector: I have one called a "Dog Dazer II" and it's $25 on Amazon. It emits a shriek that humans can't hear - but dogs can. The catch? You have to trigger it. It's not automatic.
