Here is my all time favorite run with Breeze. It occurred at the 2013 NADAC Championships.
Preamble: At the NADAC championships - 8 runs over 4 day - you expect to run a course unlike any you have ever seen. This is such a course. It has only hoops and tunnels; nothing to slow the dogs down. (At the start, you can see there is a sign on a chair. The sign says "No Speed Zone.")
There was a "kicker" for the course. We were told to imagine that there was a 3-foot wide path between each obstacle. Every step the dog makes off that path would be a 1-second penalty. And any spin would be a 1-second penalty. The actual path in turns was adjusted for the size of the dogs. The judging was done by watching videos of the runs.
Something very special occurred between Breeze and I. She glances at me just before driving to the 3rd tunnel. In that instance, a lot of trust was communicated. She knew I was going to do something and I knew she would find me coming out of the tunnel. Watch her come out of the tunnels. There is something very different about the way she exits the third tunnel - She waits for me to get in position before she accelerates.
She was the only dog in her division to run the course without a penalty second. She finished second. A border collie with 7 penalty seconds was fast enough to beat us.
