Unless we make things ourselves from homegrown ingredients we will never know exactly what we put in our pets or our own mouths.
We can find products that are made, packaged, in our country of choice but we do not know where the contents, ingredients were made or grown. Ingredients could be grown in our country then processed in another, only to be returned to our own country to be packaged or packaged in another. We the consumer would assume that because the product was grown here then it would go through every stage of preparation for the retail shelf in the same place.
Home grown, prepared and packaged is the only safe way of knowing the contents. However, we as a society have insisted on items being at a lowest cost available. We have done this to ourselves. The reality of the back yard garden, a few chickens, maybe a pig or cow is long gone. Sadly, we are to reap what we have sown.
