When looking at a resort we might want to go to, it says there is a limit of two dogs. Is that the norm?We have one larger dog (40 pounds) and two Maltese that weigh around four pounds. Should we just call them and tell them that the two little ones will be inside the RV the majority of the time, and see if they allow it?Thanks! Jules

That's what I would do. Also, tell them the breed of the 40 lb. dog.They may have restrictions on certain breeds.

We've usually had 3 dogs camping with us, and had no problem finding a place to accommodate us? KOAs are usually VERY dog-friendly; many have nice, fenced dog parks. During our trip to Alaska - we ran into a park that had a 1-dog limit, and we had 2. I called anyway - (there wasn't much to choose from!) and they simply asked us to walk the dogs separately so as not to antagonize anyone...LOL!

I do not believe in breed specific lists, and I am glad that many areas/towns/cities are stopping their breed specific bans.

We are getting a new Samoyed puppy the end of this month. This will make 3 dogs for us. We will always call and ask because one of the three is a German Shepherd Dog. We have heard that GSDs are sometimes on the breed list. So far we've been lucky and not run into any campgrounds that banned her. But it is a concern so we call and verify when we make our reservation.

I will have to look up that trailer guide!! Your Ike sounds adorable!!

I just spoke to Riverside RV in Florida, and asked about their policy. She said they are very pet friendly with no limits. That is what I like to hear. Now, here's hoping they can find a spot for us in February!! Crossing all paws here!

We use the Trailer Life Guide to RV Campgrounds - and it codes RV parks regarding pets as (B) breed limitations (S) size limits (N) number restrictions. When I call the RV park to determine what their rules are, they'll invariably ask what kind of dogs I have. All I can figure is that he understood that "camping" meant "meeting new people" - and if he wanted to do the former, he had to accommodate the latter?

I STILL get asked to bring in my dogs - mainly because those Aussie-lovers want to see what a Mini Aussie-Poo looks like LOL!

That is why I asked here. I am not a rule breaker, and would never want to upset the owners of the facility, or the people around us. Cita, the 40 pounder, is 15 years old, and going deaf and blind. But, she still loves going on her walks and smelling new things. The other two only go outside to go potty, even here at home. When you weigh 4.5 pounds, there are a lot of predators that can easily scoop you up. :(

I will always ask and get permission, and I do appreciate everyone explaining the rules and their thoughts on it.

One park told us they very rarely allow three, but because we called first, it showed we were responsible dog owners and let us in.

Honesty is always the best policy.
