Pet Friendly RV Parks in Florida

My family is moving to Florida and we will be living in a 5th wheel in the Fort Myers area while we find a final place to plant ourselves. Our biggest challenge is that we have 3 possibly 4 dogs and are having trouble finding places to stay. Any advice is VERY welcome!!
  • I will be keeping an eye on this as well. Florida bound asap. 2 small dogs. Indian county area.
  • Welcome to the forum...

Hopefully you will get some good suggestions..

Maybe you could pick out a few parks (try rvparkreviews.com) give them a call and ask about pet policy. I find two pets not to be a problem, but best to check pet policy.

Park I am (not Ft. Myers area) has a 2 pet per site policy, no vicious breeds or mix with vicious breeds in them.
  • When we traveled with three large dogs, including two retired racing Greyhounds, we ran into the two pet rule a lot.

We always called the park in advance and asked. We were never turned away.

Four dogs will make it harder than three.

Ask politely first, it will do wonders.
  • KOAs, as a rule, are dog-friendly. The max we traveled with was 3 for a while; now we're down to 2. Never had problems - but we also use the Trailer Life (now Good Sam) RV park directory which tells if a park has a restriction based on (B)= breed, (S) = size; (Q) = number of dogs.
  • Sun 'n Fun in Sarasota is dog friendly and has two dog parks and a dog washing station. Not sure if it has a limit on how many dogs.
  • Top sail in Destin is pet friendly. Back then I had 4 Collies, down to 3 now. Bluewater Key only allows 2 dogs.
  • I know KOA is very pet friendly but I don't believe that they have one in the Fort Myers area.
We haven't had any problems with three dogs but since your looking for a place for temporary residence, and you may or may not have the fourth dog, just call, inform them very nicely what your situation is...you may find them to be very accommodating.
You didn't say when you would be going down, timing may be key as your heading into high season now and it may be more difficult to find a spot for more than a few days.
    Good luck, keep us posted.
