- AZPopsExplorerWow! Is all I can muster up at the moment. However Susan, you never fail to amaze me with the compassion you have, as well as stepping up to the plate to help these animals in need!
Lance and Calvin - Code2HighExplorerI have more pics of each of the pups, but slept until eleven this morning and running a ways behind.
I have three other fosters right now, too. I'll try and get their pics uploaded tomorrow. I only do short term and with the cats, especially since Sputnik in her dotage has no fear of dogs whatsoever, I normally only do littles. But I was the very last resort for this family so for the night I figured I could manage it by keeping the cats in their room, dogs in sun room or my room and on leash in between (so no noses stuck under the door to freak her out) and um.... not sleeping much.
Lucky for me I had a friend as crazy as I am spending the night, and the neighbor kid around to help out taking small dogs out and so on. They both slept in the living room while I was on a cot in the hall... there is only one thin wall between the back room where I put her, and the cat room. So I needed to be where I'd hear if she started digging out.
She was really good and quiet for a couple hours while I dozed on and off, then at 0430 it was clean-up on aisle nine and out for a few more deposits. She wanted a break from the kids after that, so she stayed on leash by my cot or wherever else I went until my friend woke and could take her for a bit while I did other things.
She is underweight... who wouldn't be feeding that mob? And eating a LOT. The kibble made her crazy thirsty (I'm sure producing milk doesn't help any either) so before she left I made her oatmeal spiked with chicken fat, hoping it would make the trip up a little easier.
That was the second night in a row that I was out walking the yard with a dog at 0430, so I am pretty beat.
I dunno if she'll remember me, but I'll remember her. Not something I could manage too often, but I was glad to be able to save her after watching her picture for days on facebook. Pits are so hard because they are so over-populated and unlike chis (second most killed dog), they do take up some space, plus they are bigger and stronger, and only certain people want to deal with them. - chrisnpatExplorerNice Susan, I'm sure this mama will forever remember you...........
- xteacherExplorerThanks for helping this poor mommy dog! I'm sure she's very grateful.
