Ike, my late Aussie, was a regular TV watcher. If Ed was flipping through the channels and passed The Animal Planet, Ike would whip his head around at Ed with an expectant look on his face that said. "Go back to that, please?!"
He had certain TV commercials that he liked (usually featuring dogs or children)...and he could be sound asleep, but hear the first few notes of a jingle, and he'd jump up and run to the TV to watch...LOL! And he understood what was happening on the screen, because he would react appropriately.
