Series to dog flea and tick collar

A camper told me she uses a Seresto flea and tick dog collar for her dog. She said she walks her dog in the woods and even after 3 months she has not seen any ticks on her dog. Does anyone use it for your dog? What kind of results are you having? I live in the country. I am using K-9 advantix flea and tick prevention dosage for a dog up to 20 pounds (my dog weighs 19 pounds) and I always find live attached ticks. I be interested in hearing from people who have used SERESTO.
  • I've heard nothing but good things about the Seresto collars.
  • We are on our third year using the Seresto and it has worked great. When we used Frontline Plus we would find ticks crawling on our Lab and sometimes some had burrowed in although those were usually dead. Since using the Seresto we have seen none alive or dead. It seems to repel them. I wish it worked for me. They have been available in Europe for several years in fact the first one we got was shipped from England. They claim that they work for 8 months but I change about every six. Our lab has had absolutely no adverse reaction.
  • The only thing hanging around our hounds neck is your ID collar.

We treat her once a month with Advantage, Frontline or Advantix (depended on which one VET had)

She is a long thick haired Border Collie/Lab that loves to run thru the woods, grasslands, water---any body of water.

NEVER a flea or tick in her now 14 yrs.
  • Interesting alternative to Advantage- it uses the same stuff plus a tick killer/repellant, but instead of direct application/distribution on the dog's skin, it's imbedded in a collar that supposedly allows for slow release over quite a long time.

Especially for folks in tick country, it looks worth a try for those animals not sensitive to the ingredients of Advantage.
  • I am not familiar with that brand of collar but the Hartz and others are loaded with pesticides which are deadly to pets.
  • We used a Hartz flea collar several years ago (1978). It almost killed our German Sheperd. We think it may had something to do with the collar getting wet. Havn't used one since.
