The vet will say the food is the best you can get. I have been told they get a nice kickback for pushing the stuff. I bought a bag my dog ate it but it's expensive and the feeding guidelines are crazy.
Not all vets are slaves to kickbacks (same with doctors). If you fear that your vet is recommending products/services due to kickbacks, then you get a new vet. And that is why I suggested a second opinion - if the OP fears that the vet is wrong about the Science Diet recommendation, then the OP should get a second opinion from a vet (not from a bunch of strangers on an RV forum).
