Total GARBAGE.
First, no kickbacks ever with any vet from Hill's/Science Diet. We purchase at wholesale and sell at retail with a smaller markup than PetSmart and the others get with their foods.
Second, "fillers" are important in diabetics. Fiber tends to moderate glucose spikes, so that is beneficial.
Corn isn't a problem in the amounts in WD. There are diabetic specific diets if you hare having trouble regulating when feeding the WD.

This is an answer we can sink our teeth into.
We do have a vet we totally trust, but we also know he is not a canine endocrinologist. He's reading up on diabetes to make sure he's on the right path and even brings out the book to show us what he's found.
We're taking the insulin increases very slowly, per his advice. But we were hoping maybe others have had experience with canine diabetes and would have something to offer.
We're feeding according to manufacturers directions and her numbers are still high. Our vet wants us to test 4-5 hours after her insulin shot because that's when it's peaked and her numbers should be down.
Today it was so high, the meter didn't give a number, it simply said "high". So we gave her peanut butter (the real deal, no sugar, no salt, just ground peanuts) and in 1 1/2 hours her BG was 321. High, but better than "high".
That's why we were wondering if the corn in the feed could be causing the numbers to stay high even with the insulin, or are we being too anxious and need to keep with the same food and same plan? We don't believe for a minute our vet is prescribing W/D because of profit. It's because the information he has says it's good for managing glucose.
