Sweet Abby

Our sweet Abby had 2 collapses recently. After tests from a cardiologist, she has fluid around her heart (not enough to drain) and a small mass. The vet said if she makes it a month to bring her back for a checkup. Most likely what will happen is another collapse which will be fatal. Abby is 8 yrs old.

We went through a yr of chemo with our previous Golden, Haylie. It just saddens me with the health issues with Goldens. They are so awesome.

Don't forget to hug your pup today. Agnes

  • Having a husband in need of a kidney transplant for 6+ years now -- and having had a lot of senior dogs -- I just approach life as "Every day is a gift. Enjoy what you have today". Seriously none of us have any promises of tomorrow.... so make what you have count.

Just my opinion -- I guess more angels are needed.... and apparently hell is full. Meant as a half joke/half truth. I do not intend to offend anyone.
  • We were going to put Abby in a study but missed the age cut-off. Our other pup, Penny, is Golden/Cocker Spaniel. I'm hoping the mix will some how offset any health issues... we can only hope.

Penny is in the back, Abby in the front.

  • So sorry. Going through a similar situation with my Andy. Hopefully Abby will be around longer than what the vet thinks - I was given the same news about Andy on Monday, but I believe love makes a difference and can help prolong life. Bless you.
