If you want to get upset about something, how about morbidly obese dogs? Or dogs left in small cages all day while their owners are away? Or dogs chained to trees all day? Or dogs left in cars while their owner shops or tours a museum? I've seen them all at campgrounds and tourist spots. And worse.
Neuter them too - Deb_and_Ed_MExplorer IIIke had an ID tattoo across his tummy - but again, when so many other painful things get done to pups, and they seem to survive....
But I agree that subjecting a dog who'll be recovering from surgery, to a silly tattoo, is repulsive. - xteacherExplorerTatoos for cosmetic purposes - indefensible! My Maddie has a small green tatoo line on her tummy to show that she was spayed, which is very different.

I have and do get upset about these things.
In my working life I could and did something about it. (Animal cop) - Jayco23FBExplorerFrigging idiot
- UppercrustExplorerAt least the dog was sedated, I have a few tattoos and know how it feels. I do not think this was the right thing to do to a dog, yes Id numbers in the ear is something different.
- dockmasterdaveExplorerHow about small dogs sitting on the owners lap while driving, or walking around on the front seat/dashboard. That'll work great when you have to slam the brakes .
- dahkotaExplorerVets allow/put tattoos on dogs all the time. So this time, it is a heart and names on the dog instead of a bunch of numbers. It is still a mark that allows the owner to identify the dog if it is lost or stolen. I'm sure no one here would complain about it if it was a serial number.

The vet allowed this activity, which IMHO borders on abuse?
