Type of plastic bag an issue????

We used to go to Castaways in OC, MD. Loved it there, but it got too expensive for us, not to mention all their ala carte pricing just didn't set with me. So we go elsewhere.

I was looking on their website the other day to see if anything has changed. In the pet section, they specify that you are to pick up after your dog using ZIPLOCK plastic bags.

We always have bags on a roll that hook on to our leashes. Why would ppl have to spend money on expensive ziplock bags to pick up poop? Is this an issue they enforce there now?

Just wondering.....

It's NOT they, but some high priced, and or paid marketing Exec for the company to list it as such! Which IMHO is absolutely ridiculous to tell a person that they have to use a Zip Lock Bag!

If anyone told me to do so, I'd have only two words for them ... one of which I can't post!

  • After reviewing the rules it is my guess that the person writing the rule meant plastic bags, or just bags, and used Zip-lock as a synonym.

I am NOT a lawyer, but overall the rules are not well constructed. As a handicapped person I saw two of three items that were not in compliance with current ADA rules and standards.
  • I always put the bag over my hand to pick up, turn it inside out and knot it. Would be pretty difficult to do with a ziploc. That's just nitpicking and ludicrous!
  • Yeah, I can understand it being easier to zip them shut. But we always just knot the bags and put them in the trash so they are sealed.

As long as ppl are picking up their dog's droppings, I don't see why they would have to specify the type of bag you use.
  • While it would be wonderful if everyone sealed or tied the poop bags after use, I would be personally delighted if they would just pick up the messes in the first place. Heck, at times I think I would be happy if they just didn't let the dogs go and leave it on the sidewalks and in the other public areas. Sounds like they have set their sights bit high.
  • We use cheapo plastic bags from Walmart. Even cheaper than plastic bags in pet area. Some RV parks furnish bags. Use those when available.
  • To make sure there is little or no smell? To make sure the contents do not escape? Strange indeed.
