update on cat peeing everywhere

Thanks to those who gave out positive information.

As it turned out, it wasn't the male kitten that started the peeing issue, but an older spayed female. Since the majority of the inappropriate peeing was happening upstairs, away from all the children, we took the cat that never came downstairs to the vet. She did, in fact, have a UTI, diagnosed by labs. She was given an antibiotic shot and an anti-inflammatory.

Once she stopped peeing everywhere, so did the kitten.

Again, thanks for the positive info.

  • Glad to hear you found out what was the issue Sharrlan. Don't let the negative responses bother you, the majority of us know that you are a very responsible pet owner....

When I accept the responsibility for an animal, I take care of it. I don't throw it out the door at the first inconvenience. I would never have any pets if I felt otherwise.
  • We have a spayed female shelter cat about 4 1/2 years or so and new male, neutered shelter cat about five months old. Older cat seems to hate the younger one and slaps it around at every chance. Younger is actually bigger and wants to play and the older seems to be set in her ways and no dice. I go with the flow.

It is beneficial to remember that inappropriate urination almost always has a cause and solution short of getting rid of the cat. Even in cases of behavioral causes there can be successful treatments even though they require more effort and more time on the part of owners.
