Walking our cat Charlie. Beverly Beach, OR. Creek Trail.

This is video of our cat Charlie crossing a bridge over a violent, still water creek. Standing up to the man over directional control of his leash. Finally, a verbal assault form crows! Our hero does make it safely back to camp in this exciting conclusion to "Walking Our Cat Charlie".

Charlie is 7 years older now but looks just the same and though he now has diabetes, it is well under control and he is still a very active 13 year old cat. He still goes camping and walking with us and just had a good walk at Yakima Sportsman's State Park. last weekend during the wine festival TC rally. Enjoy!

  • Charlie was a cat we rescued.
His previous owner just didn't quite know how to take care of a cat.
When we first got him, he was untouchable and and at 22 pounds, he's a big cat. He lived in a box in our entry for about a month after we got him and we were starting to think he just wasn't salvageable. Then one day we were in the TV room and who should pop his head around the corner to look at us was Charlie. We were just about to give up on him and then there he was. We did not move and let him come to us and do his sniffing routine. He has changed from untouchable to become simply the best cat I've ever had. Don't tell him but he's more like a dog than a cat and will shadow me when he's with me.
Getting him to walk on leash was nothing. He just sort of took to it but he also knows it's the only way he goes outside so it means special time to him. We used to give him treats but no need for it now. He also regularly walks on his cat wheel and gets his exercise that way.
  • That is amazingg. Never seen a leashed cat . Seemed happy and enjoying itself. What a surprise. Thanks for sharing
  • Charlie is lovely...did you start walking him as a kitten? We take our Lily RVING but have never taken her outside...love the idea...don't think she would tolerate it...she is 7.Great video!
  • I'd lose a hand trying to put our cat on a leash, she's just to, well she's just a cat.
  • Great video. Reminds me of the time when I walked our 17 year old cat around parks, truck stops and campgrounds, while on a leash. Our cat loved exploring.
