- CroweExplorerit was foolish for us not to invest in quality products(No knock on Costco at all). So now our "kids" get Blue Wilderness canned(had used Newman's Own also) and Orijen Senior Dry. They Love it!!
Just out of curiosity is there any difference in their coat/health, etc? We had been feeding Blue Buffalo but got tired of the cost so we tried the switch to Pro Plan and have had great results. Price doesn't necessarily equate with quality. - Pawz4meExplorerMostly home cooked. Vital/Freshpet when I'm busy (or lazy) and have to rely on a commercial product.
- 4aSongExplorerPedigree dry kibble. Always Pedigree and never fed any of our dogs canned food.
- punomaticExplorerWe started on a "premium" food recommended by the people we bought our Bichon mix from. She seemed to do all right, but then we were in a place where we couldn't get it, so we switched to Canidae. We quickly learned that food matters. On the Canidae, she didn't vomit. She would occasionally throw up the practically undigested kibble of the "premium" brand.
Later we moved to a small town where Canidae is not available. Now we have her and a more recently acquired doxie mix rescue on Premium Choice chicken and vegetable. They are both thriving. At their last checkups, the vet said they are hale and hearty. No digestive issues at all. - AcampingwewillgExplorer IIInteresting question in as much for year's(decades)I didn't do a lot of reading on the difference's between pet foods. I think most our doggies lived very well on Costco brand dry foods. With our last group of rescues(Cavalier King Charles), we had 4 rescued separately, I began to realize that with the cost of Vet care where it is...it was foolish for us not to invest in quality products(No knock on Costco at all). So now our "kids" get Blue Wilderness canned(had used Newman's Own also) and Orijen Senior Dry. They Love it!!
- USA_TravelerExplorerMine get Science Diet for sensitive stomach and add green beans. Doing great! Just had their annual check up -- all good!
- tbredExplorer IINatural Balance Ultra Premium, he says it tastes good!
- sher9570ExplorerWe've fed the Wellness, Taste of the Wild and the last one was Blue Buffalo and Lucy was still having skin issues and small spots of hair falling out.
My daughter fed Purina Beyond, so we decided to try it, within two weeks her coat was re growing the hair and she didn't shed nearly as much and it's much shinier.
I'm sticking with this one for now.
The old Poodle we adopted we have on Fresh Pet Vital, Bison. He's such a finicky eater that this works best for him, he's almost 14 now and as healthy as can be.
Sher - CA_POPPYExplorerWe had routine labs done on Darcy recently, because she is nearly 8 yrs old. She had no symptoms, but turned up with "a few crystals" in urine, so she's on Royal Canin SO for urinary tract. I really hope that's not all she can have, forever! :E We re-test in 3 weeks.
- CroweExplorerPurina Pro Plan Sensitive Stomach formula. Helps tremendously with Jesse's skin issues and they both love it.
