Thankfully I only had one Cushings horse that necessitated that whole food conundrum.
The other 2 lived out their life on Equine Senior, Buckeye, and during winter adding Stabilized Rice Bran Pellets, good hay and good pasture. With occasionally a big helping of warm bran mash with applesauce on those cold nights.
