Thank you. This is good advice and not something I would have thought of.
As for the location questions, and the cat being out: This happened in the backyard of my S&B. Dog lives across the street. (Owner said, 'He just got out...'.)
Where I live, the culture here, cats are not indoor animals. It would probably be considered animal abuse or something to keep a cat indoors 24/7. Not that I am bound by that, but my culture influences my thinking. I chose this house in part because it is a quiet residential street, safe for cats. As safe as can be, anyway.
