I have always had a dog or two of some sort since a little child. My brother has never and will never have a dog. He can't stand to even be around dogs especially indoor dogs. Different strokes for different folks. Some might change, but I believe the majority will not. I don't particularly like to be around kids, but can tolerate them in short bursts. I have one daughter that is grown now and I would not trade her for all the tea in China, but I would never want another one. Think it through, get a stuffed dog, a pet rock, or some sort of compromise, but do not get a dog.
