I may very well be wrong, but I thought the receiver actually sent something up to the receiver horn on the dish - power or signal. If that's the case I don't see how you could connect two receivers to the same dish on a single cable without some special connector provided by DishTv.
It's been some time since I installed my dish antenna, but I thought there was the capability to run multiple receivers off it but only by running coax from each receiver to the horn on the dish. I have both DirecTv and DishTV antennas installed on my roof but I only use one service, so I may be confusing the two though.
