5" or 7" GPS display

I tow a 5ver with a RAM 2500. I like the features of the Garmin RV RV760 GPS but I don't know if the 7" display will block my vision too much. The Rand McNally is my second choice since they offer a 5" screen. What are the thoughts of those who are driving a pickup.

7 inch Garmin. Don't buy the RM. It's a piece of junk. First one I bought didn't work out of the box. Got a replacements and it died right in the middle of a trip. Plus the display is the weakest I've ever seen, even with the supplemental sun shade.

You must be referring to the old 7710. We have been using the 7720 for two years now and love it. Bright screen and so much more the Garmins don't appear to have. The learning curve is steep since it is not like the Garmins. I am still learning how to take advantage of all that ours has to offer! It automatically comes with lifetime maps without paying extra for it. They also update the software periodically to take care of minor glitches and we just had a major software upgrade with lots of new features - all free.

Nope, it was the 7720. In fact, check out the ratings on Amazon or Camping World for any of the Rand McNally products and you'll see thay you are one of the few who actually like them.
  • I'm another one with no problems using the RM 7725 with a 7" display in my motor home. I've used it for more than 2 years and 8,000 miles in unfamiliar terrain. No problems with it. I like the ease of entering locations, the low tunnel warnings and the large easy-to-read display. . I always used a Garmin in my car. The RM takes information differently and there was a learning curve. Now that I am used to it, I like it better than the Garmin.

Set up a cardboard dummy the same size as the 7 inch model and see if it does block your vision. Bigger is better and shouldn't block much more than a 5 inch
  • I have the 6 inch Garmin 2689 LMT for my B. Very satisfied with the features and size.
  • I have a 2500 Dodge also and I set my GPS in the lower left corner in front of me. No blockage and easy to reach.
  • Another happy Garmin 760LM user here, driving a 2004 Ram 3500.
It sets on the dash, to the drivers right, no problem with the 7 in blocking the view. I really like it for all of the above positive comments.
My line of vision is well above the GPS.

Let me chime in on the RMs . . .

My 7710 was a little quirky, so when the 7720 came out, I bought one. Ran well for about a year then died.

So I bought the 7730 . . . It was DOA out of the box so I sent it back.

This time I'm going with Garmin
