5" or 7" GPS display

I tow a 5ver with a RAM 2500. I like the features of the Garmin RV RV760 GPS but I don't know if the 7" display will block my vision too much. The Rand McNally is my second choice since they offer a 5" screen. What are the thoughts of those who are driving a pickup.

7 inch Garmin. Don't buy the RM. It's a piece of junk. First one I bought didn't work out of the box. Got a replacements and it died right in the middle of a trip. Plus the display is the weakest I've ever seen, even with the supplemental sun shade.

You must be referring to the old 7710. We have been using the 7720 for two years now and love it. Bright screen and so much more the Garmins don't appear to have. The learning curve is steep since it is not like the Garmins. I am still learning how to take advantage of all that ours has to offer! It automatically comes with lifetime maps without paying extra for it. They also update the software periodically to take care of minor glitches and we just had a major software upgrade with lots of new features - all free.

  • I have the 7" display and consider the larger size to be safer since you spend less time looking at the larger display.

  • Another vote for the Garmin 7" display, we have the 2797LMT.
  • Display size aside...between Garmin and Rand McNally...go with the Garmin (make sure it has LM)
  • Get the biggest display you can. Also buy Garmin with their lifetime map upgrades.
  • I always opt for the 7" screen. That's what I have in my F-250 - a 7" Garmin like you mentioned
