63 seconds

Since I upgraded Firefox to version 27.0, it takes FOREVER to open up.
Actually, I timed it with a stopwatch this morning and it took 63 seconds from the time I clicked the icon on the taskbar until I saw my home page on the screen.
Everything else seems to be working OK. I've run AVG, Malwarebytes and Glary utils. with no effect. Not sure what to try next except an uninstall/reinstall.
Any suggestions?
  • "I sure hope Firefox doesn't go the same way of Internet Explorer where each new version disabled more and more programs on your computer."

I've never had this issue, and wonder how that could happen.
  • FF 27 is working great for me...
There was a large Windows update this AM...wondering if that may have been part of the delay.
  • Well then, THAT saves me having to ask if anyone has had problems with the new version. Firefox keeps alerting me to upgrade.

  • Until I read this thread, didn't know FF27 was out there. Jst did the upgrade and now FF is faster than with FF26.
  • Also in ff 27 under the Help Menu is the option to Restart w/ Add-Ons Disabled. This might tell if one or more add-ons is not happy w/ new FF
  • Sounds like some bad juju between FF 27 and your home page. try a simple homepage and compare

I saw no change from FF 26 to FF 27 and My Yahoo as my homepage -- within 15 sec I can use My Yahoo. I have a good many addons, as well. 10 y/o single core AMD PC, also
  • I had been using FF 25.0 with NO problems until I let it update a few months ago.

On my tablet (Win 8.1) touch-scrolling was "herky-jerky" and didn't get better over a week's time. I even would open IE11 on sites to see if it was the site or me. It was me.

I reinstalled 25.0 again and all was well. I also told FF to NOT automatically update anymore.

  • I don't think I was clear enough. Firefox is working normally once it opens - no problems at all. It just take WAAAAY too long to open.
