A "preferred" cigarette lighter cellular charger???

Some of these mini USB chargers cost four dollars and I am suspicious. I would rather pay twenty dollars and get a superior grade of charger. Only problem is I haven't a clue what constitutes a superb charger...

My Samsung Galaxy was a gift and it cost $400+ dollars new. I use it's original 120-volt charger. But now I want a 12-volt charger that can take abuse from fumbling fingers, durable and stable (correct) charging profile even if I forget and leave it connected for days-on-end.

Is there such a thing as a "Rolls Royce" of car chargers?

A coil-cord USB wire would be nice..

Thank You!

A company making chargers and aux batteries that has a great reputation that I use and recommend is---- Anker------ The stuff is Chinese (what isn't?) but the quality of the cigarette lighter chargers and 110 plug in wall chargers have been excellent!
  • When my wife got a Tablet, we learned to check the Amp rating on the little 12 volt plug in car chargers. We got a 1 amp at a truck stop and it would not charge while it was in use.
1 amp works for a phone.
2 amp works for a tablet.

I have seen them rated up to 2.4 amps.

I don't know about any rolls royce models. I think the one we got for the tablet was around $15 and has been working great for a couple years.

Mex - I have two of these in my TRUCK setup. One up front and one in the back of the center console. Oh just remembered there is a third on inside the truck center console. Think they all came from WALMART or LOWES... Having the DUAl PORTs at each location is great...

I also added a couple of these BLUE SEA permanent mount type sockets in my off-road trailer.

I have alot of USB CHARGER connections these days between the Ham Radio, Cellphones, and computers etc...

I would think the permanent mount type like from BLUE SEA would be the most quality unit. Plugging an adapter into a 12VDC socket is only as good as the connection it makes. Some of those 12V cig lighter sockets are not very high quality connections...

If I am going to install a cig lighter connection and plug in my off-road trailer for something I would purchase a matched set from BLUE SEA for best results. This is especially good for max DC AMPs you are requiring to use. Bad connections always results in heat as you are very aware of...

  • You can always go to eBay for the $2.99 ones...but, like you said, you don't know what you are getting and take the chance of one that (MIGHT) damage you phone..

Keep in mind that they ALL come from China.

You can also go with a genuine Samsung charger and be confident in it's quality and compatibility.
