I have both a NX-430 AND AN xp-610. I love them both, for great quality photos. The XP is about twice as fast and just as noisy as the NX. The paper tray placement on the XP looks good, but is annoying. The inks for both of these are fairly reasonable. The XP ink cartridges have little caps over the inkpad which you remove, but can replace if your cartridges are going to be sitting unused for a long time, so they don't dry out. The XP also has 2 types of black, one photo black and one regular black, so I think the photos actually have more clarity, and you don't run out of black frequently. Both handle several types of paper, thick and thin, very well; I have less jams with the NX. They're both great units for the money. By the way, I am right now printing Christmas cards with my 3 year old NX, because a piece on the paper feed broke on the 6 month-old XP; I called Epson, told them the problem, they are sending me a new one no charge...it just hasn't gotten here yet. You will likely never have a problem with their customer service. I will never buy any printer other than an Epson.
