Any iPhone 4 Users Upgraded to iOS 7?

I have multiple Android and iPhone smartphones on Verizon, but have resisted upgrading my iPhone 4 to iOS 7 due to many complaints of sluggish behavior. Does anyone who has upgraded to iOS 7 on an iPhone 4 know if the issues have been resolved in the latest release? Haven't really had the time to following iOS developments. Not interested in upgrading to iPhone 5 as my service provider doesn't support 4G mobile data.
  • Daughters iPhone4 updated a while back she has no problems with it. She didn't like the changes at first, but it works fine, and has no complaints.
  • I have one friend with Iphone 4/IOS 7 that has no problems. 3 Friends with Iphone 4/IOS 7 with slowdown issues. A few other friends that refuse to upgrade the OS with the Iphone 4. I don't know if they tried to disable cloud syncing.
  • Well, its now a moot point. The SSL vulnerability was the deciding factor for upgrading to 7.06. A check of my iPhone 4 indicated that SSL was compromised under iOS 6. Apple has apparently only released a fix for iPhones 3 and iPods 4. The iPhone 4 only has the iOS 7 option.

I am noticing a little delay, but so far not a big issue. Don't really have an opinion yet about the new interface. Whether it would make a difference anyway?
  • Just updated our 5s Iphones to 7.0.6 with no problems, no fix for the Ipad or Mac yet.
  • Good reminder. I just installed SSLPatch from Cydia to fix my jailbroken iPhone 5S with regards to this hole.
  • Apple just put out a fix for the SSL problem on the Mac computers today..

I forgot about the increased battery drain issue. But appears disabling iCloud synching reduces the problem. Found this article that basically outlines some concerns of upgrading to iOS7.

We have a single 4s in our office arsenal. iCloud is not enabled and it has substantially less battery life since the update. No one has complained about any performance issues but it is usually the last phone to be picked up for use.
  • It's a similar situation with myself. I grab which ever phone is charged. Be it the Motorola Droids(Android) or the iPhone4. I don't intend to upgrade to the iPhone5 as it's not supported by my service provider, who uses Verizon, but doesn't activate 4G LTE devices without modifying the ROM.

My iPhone4 does have an advantage in that it can receive 3-4/5 bar signal from my house. The Droids are lucky to receive 0-1/5 bar signal. But the voice quality appears to be better with my Droids.

  • BTW, if you want to check Safari for the SSL bug and haven't done so yet, you can click the above graphic which will popup a window, tesing whether your version of iOS or Mac OS X browser is at risk. Mobile devices will open a separate browser tab.
