mid/late 90s. at that time (and here I am guessing) the "normal" PC had 4 or 8 megs? of memory. a high powered one had 16? I paid for 24 or so and memory was expensive at that time.

I was talking about his computer being useless...not the price.

Back in 2005 they switched from the PowerPC to Intel based processors. They had to switch since Motorola was discontinuing the processor. They supported the old OS for awhile. My company was in the same boat. We also used PowerPc processors on some of our products and we had to do a lifetime buy in order to continue shipments on some of our legacy products. For the MAC, you couldn't use newer software on your older MAC but I would HARDLY call that rendering it useless. in fact, I believe you could use newer programs in an emulation mode but it was slow if you absolutely had top. The fact that the new machines could now run Windows and run Windows programs was such a huge advantage, the switch was totally worth it.

Out of curiosity, how long ago did you spend $4K on a Dell Laptop?

I bought a MACBook Air for myself and I boot it up in Windows half the time. I bought it for the quality of the hardware.

what do you question? the $6,000? I spent $4,000 for a Dell so an overpriced mac surely could hit 6K.

My $7 Android smartphone is still plenty good for me. The tax alone on the iPhone X is $80. I feel like I'm $1,000 richer now that the X has been released. (actually $1,080)
