I have Win 7, Win 8.1 and Win 10 machines and don't experience ANY of the problems you described. When I had a Mac mini a few years ago and tried to use iMovie, anytime I attempted to access a movie file on the network, it was spinning beach ball time.
A Mac isn't better, only different.
I recently helped a friend upgrade his iMac computer. All I have to say about that experience is that iMac keyboards and mice are terrible.
