AVG uninstall
I down loaded AVG and AVG protection. I'm trying to uninstall them and when I do the install screen pops up. I'm using fire fox on a dell lap top. Verizon fios fiber optics.

I agree with the post that says to click "Uninstall" from the "install" screen. Many programs do that.
I was particularly interested in your BSOD comment. I have been having the same problem lately on my laptop. I'm running Windows 7 with all the latest updates and Firefox 41.0.1 For the past month or so I get the BSOD just about once every day after being on the computer for a couple of hours.
It has never happened to this computer since Windows 7 came out quite a few years ago. When/if you find the culprit causing it please post and I will do the same.

BSOD is typically a HARDWARE fault, not typically software.
Typical culprits are memory, bad power supply, bad caps on the MB..
Sometimes reading the fault codes it will reveal some hints on the cause if you are quick enough..
Additionally you can check the event viewer for details on the events up to the point of the crash. Event viewer will also have what software was running at the time of the crash..
