Mcafee Uninstall??

Purchased new desktop and attempted to install AVG internet security that have license for 2 PCs. Attempted uninstall Mcafee that comes with the PC. Could not load AVG because of Mcafee was not completely removed. Called tech support at AVG and after over an hour of them trying they said will have to pay their tech support to remove Mcafee! Stated all of Mcafee was not removed. How do you uninstall Mcafee? Or is this just a way to charge more money to customers. New Lenovov desktop I 5 processor with windows 10.
  • I found that Mcafee had the reportedly best removal tool and it worked. I first fired off after being ticked at AVG since surely they knew about the correct removal tool. I trust you guys more than the internet. Posted so someone as uninformed as I am will be aware of AVG. Thanks,

Well I for one will not allow McAfee on my systems... I have my reasons for not suporting either the man himself, OR the Company as both are criminal at least in my opinion.. NOTE: When I first decided against the company I did not know about the man's criminal acts. ONLY THE COMNPANY's!!!

On my comnputers.. I'm willing to use Reg-Edit and that's how I did it.

But teh GOOGLE advice is generally good.

Since the company that sold the computer installed the Criminal's program, they should remove it no charge.. My opinion of course.

    OH what was the crime?

"Seeding the market" Yup, hired a programme to write viruses, and anti-viruses, so they could be ahead of the comnetition when their virus programs hit the web.

They are a virus distribution company.
  • John McAfee left the company over 20 years ago. There's no affiliation anymore.

It's a matter of public record. In addition, McAfee (the company) became a wholly owned subsidiary of Intel in 2011. Google is this Internet service you may find useful, you can research all kinds of things very easily.
  • I don't have Mcafee on my computer, but use Norton instead. When I uninstalled it several times while experimenting, I used an app named Revo Uninstaller. It removed Norton 100%, so I imagine it may do the same with Mcafee. If you've already uninstalled part of Mcafee, I'm not sure Revo will work then.

As an alterative, I also like CCleaner's registry tool to clean up remnants of programs that don't completely uninstall themselves. I have yet to experience any registry problems when using CCleaner, but make a registry backup just to be safe. Perhaps create a restore point, also.

As I said, When I became aware of the COMPANY's violation of laws by releasing viruses (mostly harmless "Kilroy was here" type stuff)

I was NOT aware of McAffee's personal crimes.. So they had no bearing on anything.. The reason I will not have their produts is that they (The Company) Were and for all i know may still be a VIRUS DISTRIBUTOR.

    Those. of course, are free.
